25mm vs 40mm vs 105mm: When to Use Each Cannon in Zombie Gunship

Quick n Dirty answer

25mm for crowds near survivors, 40mm for knots away from the bunker lane, 105mm for clean kill zones only. Match the shell to the threat and you stop costing yourself civilians.

Zombie Gunship gives you three barrels and asks you to know when to fire which. Most runs that end early end on the wrong gun answering the wrong threat. Here is the Quick n Dirty matching.

25mm Gatling: the safe answer

Sustained fire, narrow footprint, low collateral risk. The 25mm is your default whenever survivors are anywhere near the threat. Sweep it across the feet of the closest zombie in the pack and the rest get caught on the same line. It is also the cleanest tool for picking a single zombie off a captured civilian, because the spread will not catch the person you are trying to save.

40mm Bofors: the middle answer

More punch than the 25mm, more precision than the 105mm. The 40mm shines on the in-between: a knot of zombies that the 25mm chews through too slowly, but that does not justify spending the howitzer. On maps where civilians are clustered, the 40mm often does the job the 105mm wants, with less risk.

105mm Howitzer: the reset button

Massive splash, slow reload, screen-clearing. The 105mm exists for the moment a wave overwhelms the other guns. The trade-off is that the shell does not check who is in the crater, so the 105mm only fires when the kill zone is clean. Late in the round, when survivors are scarce and zombies are stacking, this is the weapon that saves the bunker.

The Quick n Dirty rule

  • If a civilian is in frame, the 25mm answers everything you can answer.
  • If a knot is forming away from the survivor line, that is the 40mm.
  • If the screen needs a reset and the kill zone is clean, drop the 105mm.

Upgrade with the same priority

Spend coins in the order you fire the guns: 25mm first because it is on the trigger the whole run, then the 40mm, then the 105mm. A maxed 25mm prevents the wave from ever building to a 105mm problem. Full priority in the upgrade guide.

The one mistake to avoid

Reaching for the 105mm on a wave the 40mm could handle. Every wasted howitzer is a reload you do not have when the gate gets pressured later. Cheap kills with the smaller guns, expensive shots only when they have to fly.
